Why Suytun is famous
Suytun is a closed cave cenote with a single hole in the ceiling. A narrow stone path leads to a round platform in the middle of the water, and around midday a beam of light falls straight onto it. This is the photo that made the cenote famous.
Swimming at Suytun
Swimming is allowed with a life jacket. The water around the platform is fairly shallow, around 1 to 5 m by reports, so it suits a relaxed float more than long swims.
Getting the light beam photo
The beam shows on sunny days roughly between late morning and early afternoon, and is clearest in the drier months. People queue for the platform at peak time; staff keep the line moving, so plan your pose in advance.
Visitor limits and facilities
The operator lists a maximum capacity of 150 guests and a last entry one hour before closing. Changing rooms, showers and life jackets are reported. Pets are not allowed except service animals.
