A small Maya village experience
Dos Palmas is run by a small Maya family community. Besides the cenote, visitors can try local food and, by arrangement, a temazcal (traditional steam bath) or a cleansing ceremony led by a local guide.
The walk and the cenote
A short jungle path leads to the water. Wooden sections can be slippery, so wear shoes with grip. Look for iguanas and coatis on the way. The cenote is calm and good for a quiet swim.
Tips
Skip sunscreen before swimming, bring cash, and ask about ceremony times in advance. It is close to Dos Ojos, so you can combine both in a half day.
