Swimming and snorkeling

The cenote is a wide open pool with clear turquoise water, rock ledges, aquatic plants and small fish near the edges. Operators report a maximum depth of about 15 m (around 50 ft), so deep areas start close to the shore; non-swimmers should wear a life jacket.

Cliff jumping

Several rock ledges are used for jumping, from low to a few meters high. Look at the water below before every jump: the edges are shallow and rocky in places.

Diving at Jardín del Edén

It is a common open-water and cavern training site. Divers see a halocline, light shafts and the cavern zone under the overhangs, always with a certified local guide.

Facilities and what to bring

Toilets and parking are reported; showers, lockers and food vary, so do not rely on them. Bring water shoes, your own mask and snorkel, a towel, cash in pesos and biodegradable products only.

Best time to visit

Early morning is calmest, before tour groups arrive from Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Midday sun makes the water brightest. Some sources say it closes one day a week for maintenance, so check before driving.
